A play involving black people in South Africa is hardly complete without a grey prison blanket and piece of corrugated iron. Coloured people are gangsters or poor farming communities. The voice in which the actors perform is ‘cleansed’. If art reflects life, it must do so without a colonised lens. What are the challenges to true representation of marginalised voices?\n
