SUMMARY:Official Opening | My Fellow South Africans
DESCRIPTION:My Fellow South Africans, a satirical take on contemporary South Africa which has earned the talented performer Kim Blanche Adonis two “Best Solo” Performance awards and further nominations for similar awards both in Gauteng and the Western Cape, will be staged at the Centre for Creative Arts at the University of KwaZulu Natal on Friday 3 May as part of the Centre’s Artfluence Human Rights Festival.\n \nIn the tradition of his award-winning works such as Bafana Republic and Pay Back the Curry, playwright Mike van Graan developed My Fellow South Africans as a modest contribution to stimulate debate in anticipation of the forthcoming elections.  To date, the revue has been staged more than 105 times in theatres, community halls, corporate boardrooms, retirement villages, on a jazz cruise and even in people’s homes!\n \nMy Fellow South Africans has resonated with audiences across the board, touching on nerves with which many in our country can identify.  Academics and NGO leaders, teachers and corporate CEOs, students and retirees – all have praised the work as tapping into our current anxieties and frustrations while allowing us a moment of catharsis and hope.\n
