Arts Coverage in the Media
On Wednesday, it will be World Press Freedom Day. Artfluence with the Campaign for Free Expression (CFE) (for context, the Executive Director is Anton Harber) will host a conversation about the coverage of arts in traditional media spaces.
The Campaign for Free Expression recently published “The State of Free Expression in the South African Cultural Sector, An Investigation” (written by Charles Leonard, Edward Tsumele, and Thokozani Mbwana, which explores the factors that affect and disrupt growth and sustainability in the arts and culture sector, as detailed by cultural workers. This conversation, on Wednesday 3 May at 3pm, is about the absence of space to write about the arts and culture sector and its workers, in the traditional media albeit online, broadcast or in print.
