Creating decolonised African archives – Shifting Historical narratives to centre on Africa

The online space is a blank canvas to place African centred narratives on equal footing to Western representations. Artists are seizing the opportunity to tell the forgotten parts of Africa’s role in world events. The colonial history textbook is rich with opportunities to tell from the otherside and the digital African artists are capitalising on this space to dethrone the Western ideology from its position of authority. The role of FUBA is absent from contemporary writings and inside of Johannesburg Art Gallery. The history of detention camps in Kenya are being released online. What was Africa’s role in the Nuclear race? How is this influencing existing museums and the curation of exhibitions ? How are we realising the right to representation?
