Dean Bowen is a poet, performer and psychonaut. He lives and works in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). He won the first Van Dale SPOKEN Award in the poetry category. He has published poems on the online platforms SampleKanon and Hard//Hoofd and in magazines such as nY and Kunsttijdschrift Vlaanderen. His work is both moving and politically charged. His debut Bokman (2018) is a confronting collection of poems that forces the reader to reflect on their role in history, their position in the debate about racism, the Dutch colonial past, heritage and identity. Straddling multiple continents, Bowen masterfully untangles his origins.
