Her career as an arts manager began with an internship at Business and Arts South Africa in 2010, she then spent 6 years managing funding and development programmes at The Arts & Culture Trust and this while concurrently managing her own film production company that produced content for private clients and broadcasters.
She has designed productions in various theatres, including The Market Theatre, Joburg Theatre, SA State Theatre, Baxter Theatre, Sandton Theatre on the Square and Soweto Theatre to name a few. In 2016 she co-founded Production Design Factory (PDF) with award nominated designer Nthabiseng Makone. PDF specialises in Set, Costume and AV Design including set and costume hire services for theatre, television, film and functions (private and public) with the most notable being the 2019 Presidential Inauguration where the company designed costumes for all performers on stage.
Karabo has facilitated various public discussions and workshops for many institutions and taught production design at various institutions including the University of Pretoria and The Market Theatre. She sits on the judging panel of the South African Film & Television Awards in the Art Direction and is a proud board member of the Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative.
